David Dubnyk

Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) program instructor David Dubnyk

David Dubnyk retired from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in 2020 after a 30-year policing career. During his career, Dave worked in a variety of investigative and leadership roles in small, large, and indigenous communities throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

When Dave transferred to Alberta, he joined the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (A.L.E.R.T), first as the Corporate Services Officer, then as the Officer in Charge of the Regional Investigative Teams. In these roles, Dave oversaw some of the provinces most complex and sophisticated investigations involving drugs and organized crime, child exploitation and high-risk domestic violence.

Dave subsequently accepted the role of Contract Policing Officer for Alberta. As part of the RCMP’s Senior Management Team, he oversaw all core policing activities for the province, ensuring full compliance with Provincial Policing Standards.

Throughout his career, Dave was recognized for his integrity, values, employee development, and workplace fairness.

Dave has extensive experience in security consulting services, most recently for a multibillion-dollar energy project. Additionally, Dave is a licensed Private Investigator in Alberta and British Columbia, specializing in workplace and regulatory investigations.

We are thrilled to have Dave’s rich and varied experience in the security and policing sectors, and are excited to have him as part of our Skills Tune Up instruction team.
