Valerie Hokanson has over a decade of experience as an adult learning professional with a strong focus on safety and security training across culturally diverse environments.
She began at DHL Express in 2013 where she became a Certified International Specialist Trainer and delivered onboarding, compliance and security instruction to learners from across the Americas with varied cultural and language backgrounds. She later trained international teams at Westjet on safe cargo handling, live animal procedures, and dangerous goods regulations.
In her current role with The Commissionaries, she specializes in airport safety and security training, including conflict resolution, situational awareness, aviation safety incidents and behaviour-based threat prevention. Her career has been dedicated to equipping adult learners with the skills, confidence, and security awareness needed to perform their security services duties safely and effectively.
Valerie brings her experience in safety and security training and blends it with her background in adult learning, keeping a strong focus on the security services and aviation sectors, and has taught individuals across culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Valerie brings boundless enthusiasm and knowledge to our Skills Tune Up instruction team.
