Working as a security guard in Alberta requires obtaining a provincially issued license and you need be in compliance with the following :
You must:
be over 18 years old
be eligible to work in Canada
be fluent in English (Canadian Language Benchmark Minimum of Level 5)
have no criminal record
have no outstanding criminal charges
not be the subject of a criminal investigation
proof of successful basic security guard training by offering a certificate or letter from an accredited provincial training provider
complete a government application for a security guard license and processing fee
Our instructors are professionals with a combined history of over 10 years working in the security guard industry and law enforcement.
Working effectivelyas a security guard requires:
demonstration of excellent English language verbal and written communication skills
good interpersonal skills
observation of body language to detect potential violent threats
use of restraint and de-escalation tactics in potentially violent situations
These skills cannot be learned by reading a manual online and viewing prerecorded video!
Our instructors offer individualized coaching and patient support to answer your questions in a classroom setting and helping you to improve your understanding of the Alberta Basic Security Guard Training (ABST) curriculum.
Passing the mandatory ABST exam with a final grade of 80% and higher is possible through our fun and engaging classroom training!
