Working as a security guard in Alberta requires obtaining a provincial license that requires you to be in compliance with the following:
be at least 18 years old
be eligible to work in Canada
be fluent in English (Canadian Language Benchmark 5 and higher)
have no criminal record
have no outstanding criminal charges
not be subject to a criminal investigation
proof of successful completion of basic security guard training and passing exam with a grade of 80% and higher
submission of a completed government application and payment of processing fee
Working effectively as a security guard requires:
English language fluency in all verbal and written communication
good personal skills
observation and correct interpretation of body language to detect potential threats
use of restraint and de-escalation tactics
These skills cannot be acquired by reading a manual and viewing prerecorded video. However, with our interactive and personalized training classes you can pass the exam and standout as a security guard professional!
